Balasore train accident: CBI seals house of missing railway signalman JE Amir Khan
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday sealed the rented house of railway signal JE Amir Khan. The junior engineer, who lived in a rented house in Balasore, was questioned by the probe agency earlier, but he has now gone missing with his family.
The tragic accident at Bahanaga in Balasore has resulted in the deaths of 292 passengers so far. And many injured still undergoing medical treatments.
During its initial investigation, the CBI questioned the engineer at an undisclosed location. Following their visit to Balasore on June 16, the CBI team returned on Monday. However, he was not to be found at his home, hence sealed the engineer's residence.
While the CBI investigation is underway, Khordha Road DRM, Rinkesh Ray had earlier suspected ‘physical tampering’ behind the accident, local media Odisha TV reported.
The Odisha TV reported that, he said “There was a green signal on the main line. The signal is usually green when all the pre-conditions required for the signal to go green are perfect. If any of the pre-conditions are not fulfilled, the signal can never turn green unless and until anyone physically tampers with the signal system. But, from the data records, it shows that when Coromandel Express was reaching the station, the signal was green, but the train moved to the loop line,”.
